Web Redesign for Edit Cellar

Web Redesign for Edit Cellar

Been traveling a lot lately. All over Jersey, Orlando, and this week I’ll be in Chicago at the International Housewares Show for my corporate video production company Edit Cellar.

In preparation, between plane rides, I redesigned the site for Edit Cellar. It’s funny how a company that prides itself of helping others brand their international businesses sometimes gets lackadaisical about their own brand. However, that was the case and I was determined to get it done.

With the help of some great behind the scenes shots over the years from photographer Daniel Kwak, some intricate design tips from artist J. Matthew Root, and the Divi theme from Elegant Themes, I was able to craft something I am extremely proud to present.

I built the entire theme using the Divi builder, and then hunted down some custom CSS code to add the finishing touches. Check it out & let me know what you think!

Two Client Projects Accepted to the Garden State Film Festival

Two Client Projects Accepted to the Garden State Film Festival

Very excited to announce that two of our client videos this year have been selected to the 15th Annual Garden State Film Festival, taking place in in Atlantic City, NJ from March 30th – April 2nd, 2017.

In the category of ‘Home Grown Documentary Short’, we are proud to announce ‘The Story of Justin’s Barbershop‘ will be making it’s New Jersey premiere on Sunday, April 2nd.

In the category of ‘Home Grown Commercial’, we are proud to announce our spot for ‘Gravity Training Zone: Transformation Specialists‘ will be premiering  also on Sunday, April 2nd.

It’s an honor to be accepted, and an even bigger honor for our clients who put their faith in the team at Edit Cellar. I’ve always prided myself on storytelling, and there is no bigger honor then being recognized by your peers.

Social Media Sensation

Social Media Sensation

I’ve known the owners at The Bagel Nook for many years. When their latest ‘controversial’ creation, the Flaming Cheetoh Bagel, blew up on social media, you can bet I got a call to film some behind the scenes footage. Business Insider put it all together and 12 minutes after launching it, it already had nearly 500 shares, and over 100k views.

Voila!

Change Everything You Know About Screenwriting

Sometimes we are lucky enough to read an idea that reveals new perspective, resolves our determination, and inspires confidence. Such was the case when I stumbled upon this jewel featured in the New York Times back in 2012.

The Black List sent an email to subscribers promoting The Psychology of Storytelling. Apparently, Lindsey Doran will change everything you know about screenwriting. Skeptical of this incredulous, over dramatic boast, I felt it my duty to read the corresponding New York Times article referenced in the ad.

To say I was pleasantly surprised is as equally understated as ‘Michael Jordan was a good basketball player’. The concept Lindsey Doran presented, in 2012 no less, blew me away like a crumbling leaf in a gust of November wind.

Now I’m inspired to tackle my next script armed with a clear understanding of my audience’s subconscious, emotional desires.

The Scarlet-w goes to the Jersey Shore

I took my family and the Scarlet-w to the Jersey Shore to grab some candid beach footage. I was looking to test out the dynamic range of the camera, and learn how to properly set exposure and color temperature in harsh conditions. This was

Editing Drone Footage

photographer friend of mine recently trekked across the country to the wondrous landscapes on the shores of Oregon. Lucky for me, he brought with him his 3DR Solo drone with a Go Pro, and asked me to edit a reel of the highlights.

One of the techniques I love to use with drone footage is speed ramping. Due to the long takes, you have so much leeway to take advantage with ramps, especially when there is a pan, or a rising/falling shot. Match it to some epic music, use it as a transition, and even mix in some reverse action when it feels right.
