A photographer friend of mine recently trekked across the country to the wondrous landscapes on the shores of Oregon. Lucky for me, he brought with him his 3DR Solo drone with a Go Pro, and asked me to edit a reel of the highlights.

One of the techniques I love to use with drone footage is speed ramping. Due to the long takes, you have so much leeway to take advantage with ramps, especially when there is a pan, or a rising/falling shot. Match it to some epic music, use it as a transition, and even mix in some reverse action when it feels right.
